What does "Magsealed" mean?
Fishing reels consist of highly sensitive rotary mechanisms, which in the absence of periodic maintenance, can freeze up due to rust and salt crystallization that occurs when saltwater intrudes. When this happens, an overhaul might save the day—or you may have to say “thanks for the memories” and repurpose that reel as a paper weight. So to keep saltwater out, Daiwa "Magseals" the main shaft on all new Saltist Spinning reels. They do this with "Magoil", which is a futuristic magnetic oil developed by space engineers. Daiwa uses "Magoil" to seal microgaps between parts to keep saltwater and other particles out—which was frankly impossible until now. Along with their "Magsealed" design, Saltist reels boast a range of performance features (listed below) that Saltist connoisseurs have come to expect.
